HEV,PHEV,EV and BEV different types of EVs Explained

What are these different types of EVs like BEV,PHEV,HEV explained in this episode of the arthavruksha podcast.

Lets begin then…

First of all lets understand what are EVs-

• So EVs are Electric Vehicle which run on battery and don’t have petrol engines and for the replacement of petrol they have electric motor for propulsion. So these types vehicle which run on battery are called EV or BEV(Battery Electric Vehicles),both terms are interchangeable. These vehicles can run more in single charge than HEV(Hybrid Electric Vehicles) .

  

  This is how EV or BEV Looks

• HEV runs on both petrol engine and electric motor. They use regenerative braking to charge their batteries.Regenerative braking stores the kinetic energy used to stop the car to charge its battery .

  

  This is how HEVs Look

• PHEV - Plug-in hybrid vehicle or PHEV are part of both world like they have electric motors of EV or BEV and have a Combustion system of HEV. The difference between HEV and PHEV is that PHEV can travel a bit more than HEV but still less than EV or BEV
